A dream, and maybe a future act? lol

    Friday, May 29, 2009, 3:51 PM [General]

Yesterday morning, I dreamed that I was a part of a group of my friends who invented an act for a brand new Renaissance Faire that was just starting.  We were known as The MacHineys, a clan of Highlanders who were the forerunners of what are now known as rednecks.  Renaissance Rednecks!  Anyhow, we were pretty dysfunctional.  One of the family members, for instance, was "Uncle Grandma", who liked to cross-dress as an old lady.  We had a bunch of "you might be a MacHiney..." jokes, sort of in a Renaissance/Jeff Foxworthy vein, and also some "MacHiney" jokes sort of like the old Hiney Wine ads that used to run on the radio.

If I ever had the time, and cooperation from some buddies, this act could stand a chance of happening!  LOL!

    Unicorn Strings

    Monday, April 13, 2009, 4:38 PM [General]

Went to Scarborough Faire the day before Easter; we met our son James and his family while there.  We had fun as always.  As Mark and I were making our way to the front gate to go home, we stopped at the Unicorn Strings booth, and I fell in love...with the bowed psaltery!  I hadn't intended to pick one up, but the lady there put one into my hands and showed me how to play it.  Hearing her play it was nice, but to experience actually making those lovely sounds myself, I knew I would have to have one.  And they are also lovely to look at.  I can hardly wait to have one for my very own; if I'd had the money Saturday, I'd have brought one home with me.

Thanks for the update! The "tirnabout" in my post tonight only refers to the twist in the last verse of Rosemary Fair-not in any way to your song! Oh those coincidences-found out last night my "big brother" (of genuine Scottish decent) just moved to Scarborough in the great white north! :)

Greetings my Lady; your well-tuned verse is a most noteable manner of voicing triumph over tragedy! Pollen, sinuses and off-timed precautionary cures are a truly dastardly conspiracy of circummstances. Here's to much merriment for your own personal opening day at Scarborough. Might you be thusly inclined as to recommend a starting title for indulging in some literary mind candy;especially involving the kind which comes wrapped in a kilt? :)
